Message from Our CEO Amid Executive Orders
There are many hurtful actions coming from our new presidential administration. Every day, we see executive orders handed down from this administration that are of great concern for those of us who work to support and advocate for people and communities impacted by years of systemic racism and deprived of economic opportunity.
It remains to be seen how much of this will unfold as we applaud our political leaders in Washington, D.C., and locally for challenging these harmful measures. But know this: United Way of King County stands with immigrants, refugees, and asylees in Washington state, and we encourage you to know and understand the rights afforded to you in this country.
United Way recognizes the efforts of state, regional, and national organizations working to keep the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors informed at this time. As many communities have been impacted by the shift in public policy regarding immigration, United Way is sharing the following resources:
