All-Star Softball Classic Leads To Big Numbers

By United Way of King County, on May 25, 2016 | In Helping Students Graduate

You might have noticed that last Sunday, it rained almost everywhere in King County. Except over our celebrity softball game at Safeco Field. Yeah, we were good with that.

May 22 was our 4th annual All-Star Softball Classic. Over 6,000 fans watched home runs mixed with sass and great plays by Dan Wilson, Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, Jermaine Kearse, Brad Evans and a whole lot of their Mariners-Seahawks-Sounders friends and other great celebrity faces. And it was all to support youth and our work to reduce the number of unsheltered people by 50%.

This event raised over $700,000, which will boost our work to end youth homeless, including shelters, family reunification programs, and life and job skills training. Over 100 volunteers and 25 sponsors powered this game from beginning to end. We also made friends with 200 new Emerging Leaders! Thank you to all for helping young people reach their goals and create a stable life!

And now for what we’ve all been waiting for…The prize winners!
