#PressForProgress on March 8th and Every Day

International Women’s Day is a day that “celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women” as well as a day that calls upon everyone to advocate for women.

This year, International Women’s Day feels particularly important. The last few months has been chock-full of news stories where gender and gender equality have taken center stage.

Some of you might be thinking, FINALLY!

We can’t say that you’d be wrong in that thought. It has been a long time coming for women’s voices to be heard and their stories to be taken seriously.

United Way believes that change starts with the individual. If we empower a woman, we’ll see those positive impacts reach her family, her community and generations to come.

This belief is why we invest in women like Aeshia and Susie who received a little bit of help through our Streets to Home program. They’re both now stable, in housing and providing for their children.

Please consider giving to United Way today in honor of a woman in your life. Your gift will be used to fund empowerment workshops for women so that they can take control of their lives and change their future.
