Mariners Reunite At All-Star Softball

By United Way of King County, on May 26, 2016 | In News

We’re calling them the Fab 4 of our 2016 All-Star Softball Classic. Seattle Mariners alumni Dan Wilson, Jay Buhner, Randy Johnson and Dave Valle took a trip down memory lane with homers, RBIs and strikeouts at Safeco Field. And this time it was in support of at-risk youth with a mostly friendly game of softball.

The four former Mariners led the United Way celebrity softball event in smiles and hits in front of a crowd of over 6,000. The roster also included soon-to-be Mariners CEO John Stanton, a four-time Softball Classic-er and United Way champion. The Seattle Mariners organization has also been a generous and enthusiastic United Way partner in hosting and promoting the All-Star Softball Classic for the last four years. Their support has been key in raising awareness of youth homelessness and issues at-risk youth like Chris are facing.

Previous softball events have included Edgar Martinez, Joey Cora, Julio Cruz and Alvin Davis, not to mention our new BFFs from the Seahawks, Sounders and the Sonics. What draws the celebs? KISS FM’s Bender recently shared why he’s played all four All-Star Softball Classic years.

Special shoutout to Dan Wilson and Annie Wilson for their time and energy co-chairing this event. And Go Mariners!
